Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Purchasing Manager to join our procurement team. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for overseeing purchasing activities, ensuring the timely procurement of materials and components to support our production operations. This role requires a tactical thinker with strong negotiation skills and a deep understanding of supply chain management in the defense industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies to support production requirements and meet project timelines.
  • Source and procure materials, components, and equipment from approved suppliers, ensuring compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to optimize cost savings and achieve favorable terms and conditions.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and maintain relationships to ensure reliability and consistency in the supply chain.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including engineering, production, and quality assurance, to identify procurement needs and address any issues or concerns.
  • Monitor market trends and industry developments to identify potential risks and opportunities in the supply chain.
  • Prepare and analyze purchasing reports, metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track procurement performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures, including ITAR and DFARS requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a purchasing manager, preferably in the defense industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and best practices, including strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems – Priority – an advantage.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
